Augmentative and Alternative Communication

At the Speech Group we are able to provide assessment and advice regarding low and high technology communication aids.  Our therapists have particular skills and interests in the use of eye gaze tech, and software systems for a range of communication abilities.

Our team has experience and training across a broad range of hardware and software technologies which help support patient communication.

We work with multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure access to technology is physically supported. The importance of postural and seating considerations is always at the core of augmentative and alternative technology, and this can involve joint sessions/ clinics with occupational therapy and physiotherapy colleagues.

Assistive technology technicians are vital in ensuring that the most appropriate and latest technology is considered with regards to high technology communication aids. Where possible we aim to work with these technicians to ensure the best outcome for our clients.
